Glamlife for Students

Personalising Glamlife

To get the most out of Glamlife, you can choose which channels you want to subscribe to.

By default, you will only receive news and announcements from your faculty, and the central Glamlife feed. If you want to be kept up to date about news related to topics covered by a service or department that is not your faculty – for example, information about careers, student loans, study support and more, you will have to subscribe to the relevant Glamlife channel.

Video guide

The Glamlife team have prepared a short (55 second) video guide that shows you how to subscribe to channels. You can view the video below.

To subscribe to channels, go into Your Account. There, you will find a tab in the navigation for News Subscriptions. On your subscription page, you can see a list of all available channels – this list may grow during your time at the University. Choose which channels to subscribe to by selecting the respective tick boxes, and then clicking on the “Update Channels” button.

You can unsubscribe from any of the optional channels at any time.

Glamlife channels

Glamlife is more than just a home page. Your student portal contains a central reference source – the Glamlife Directory – as well as a number of Glamlife channels.

Glamlife channels are small websites produced and edited by different departments of the University. They produce news, list events, and some can post announcements. Channels exist for departments and services that have more information than can easily be covered by a single web page, and who regularly produce news items.

You are automatically subscribed to some channels – primarily, your faculty, but if you are a postgraduate student, you are also subscribed to the postgraduate channel and the Research Office. All other channels are optional subscriptions.

What are these?

We've added a list of popular social bookmarking on our pages - it is not a complete list, but the same selection of sites that the BBC have identified as being useful to a UK audience.

If you already have an account with one or more of these services, you can use the links automatically. If not, you can sign up for free with any of them.
